Hurricane Rita minus the Tequila Ritas
Well you’d think we were traveling to Florida tomorrow since we are still up packing the car and organizing. The pics you’ll see below show the basic office part of the facility and the link to my company’s website gives you a tour of the guts of the operation.
Remember that this location didn’t flood during Tropical Storm Allison 2-3 years ago, and we have 14 days worth of fuel for the generator with plans to refuel after 7 days. Everything you will see is on generator power so we will be very comfortable. The structure is cinder block with a steel frame – see the pic – and there is actually another building inside this main structure for all the telco equipment and we can use that should it get REALLY ugly.
The facility is surrounded by a fence and razor wire with only coded and badge access. I brought about 18 gallons of water, air mattress, roll away bed, foam camping pads, toys, etc. to the office tonight. Tomorrow goes the food, clothes (we are the Johnson’s so we pack twice as much as we need), and, um, I missing something…..
Ah yes the wife, the kids and the dog.
Again, if our network holds up like it did with Katrina we’ll be able to talk via the phone, email all throughout the storm so look for postings from Gator. She will be in the warehouse remaining quiet I hope.
We pre-positioned food, water and other supplies here at the house too for when we can return. We are most worried about the trees in the front crashing into the house. Tiffany has gathered up all the negatives and some pictures from our film days and we’ll be bringing the new PC with us for back up of the digital.
These pics below were with my camera phone so better ones will be coming. Tomorrow will be cleaning the house and prepping it as best we can. Called the USAA insurance and we are covered.
More later, but my pillow is calling. Love to all from the crew.
