Astros Game Tonight

You would think that we would be masters of coordinating last minute events and yet things still seem to amaze me.  Free tickets to the Astros game…awesome, but with a lot of coordination.

Abby’s new school seems to think sandy dirt constitutes an acceptable play venue for the children.  Yesterday I dug a pail full out of her ears and her feet are always filthy.  Not dirty, but disgustingly dirty, sandy and hard to clean.  I’m thinking about installing an outside shower stall so I can hose them off before entering the casa.

So here is the timeline this afternoon:
  1. Get call about tickets

  2. Look at time on my temporary computer, 5:10pm, and realize I’m late to leave to get the kids

  3. Drive like a maniac while on the phone trying to call Tiffany who is in a meeting

  4. I get a few miles from the school and look at car clock and it reads 4:35  puzzling so I look at my watch which confirms - Duh computer set for EST – I’m now almost 90 minutes EARLIER than normal – teachers there for extended day look at me funny because of this

  5. Pick up Mack and have the daily discussion – M-Do you have a snack?   D-NO   M-Why not  D-Because we are 10 minutes from the house and beside your sister eats like a bird so you can poach her lunch bag for goodies.  M(the one with a mind like a steel trap – be careful what you say because it will not be forgotten)-Wait, you had Ritz cracker snacks left in the back, I saw there were more after I plundered that stash yesterday.  D-Only if I get a bag

  6. Leave to pick up the Abby – see filthy comment above

  7. Back home we go to change for the game – traditional whining and fussing over juice, do we have to do such and such, Mack picking up Abby, Abby getting into Mack’s stuff

  8. A whole box of wipes later Abby has had a field bath and is presentable to a crowd of baseball fans, oh and will pass the sniff test for school in the morning

  9. Pack kids up to go get the tickets which are across town

  10. 60 minutes later we pick up Mommy at a happy hour for a colleague who left recently and she seems to have made use of the whole happy hour – I adjust my receiver to tune out the inevitable babbling

  11. Get to game at 7:30p at the top of the 3rd inning

  12. Total elapsed time = 3 hours 20 minutes

  13. Mack has to go to the bathroom so Mommy takes both girls – while they are gone the Astros score two individual home runs (one by “Quinn’s Daddy” Craig Biggio)

  14. Later I leave to get the girls ice cream and the Marlins hit a homer – case closed, Tiffany must spend all future games in the bathroom or getting food

  15. Astros win so all was worth it

Anyway, here are some pics from the game.  Ha, thought I’d never shut up…

PS (for those that have even gotten this far and care) – I realized that when posting the beach pictures to the blog I did so in chronological order, but when you read the blog starting at the top you are really going in reverse chronological order.  Sooooo these pics are posted in reverse order so when you look at them from top to bottom they are viewed in the correct chronology.  (wow, I didn’t now you could use derivatives of chronology that many times in one thought)

Fooled you again – seriously here are the pics….
